Beating Silly

For a few months now, Nathan has taken to playing chess on the computer when he's not reading something. There are several levels (hard, medium, easy, and silly), but he is not very good, so he usually sticks with "silly." According to him, he says his problem is that he "moves before he thinks," which is quite the problem when one is playing chess. His playing most often results in frustrated noises that make me jump with fright when the house is quiet.

Imagine the peaceful silence of the house...

"GAHH!"

"I'm so STUPID!"

"Are you KIDDING me?"

"This SUCKS!"

"I'm never playing chess AGAIN!"

And so on and so forth.

However, his luck changed this other night!

Nathan wanted me to publicly announce that he beat the computer at chess in 10 moves with all of the pieces on the board. He smugly got out the camera and snapped a picture, gloating and strutting around saying, "I just beat 'silly' chess!"

Congrats, babe! Now you can try "easy"! Good thing this PhD we're here for isn't in chess...

WOW! That is amazing - I've never seen anyone play like that! I wish I had those skills. Plus, we've ALL lost at "silly" chess - great job Nathan!

Sincerely,
Bobby Fischer

I wouldn't even know how to open silly chess, much less beat it. Good work, friend!
