A Hair Raising Experience

Nathan had long expressed the desire for me to cut his hair, so for Christmas, I bought him some hair clippers in a cool little set. We put off cutting his hair forever and ever until it was just a huge mop on top of his head. It was time...

We started off the evening with idealistic dreams, represented here by our blissful kiss.

I think it's impossible for Nathan to have a genuine smile in front of the camera. His hair was just about as scary as his face.

Needless to say, I was completely ignorant about cutting hair. I had never done it before, and I was kind of scared. Nathan was encouraging... at first.

Then, he got so irritated with my perfectionism, he took the clippers into his own hands.

I never knew that a simple hair cutting experience could stir up so much sin in my heart. We started off with such hopes and dreams, and then I wanted to gouge his ears with the clippers because of his constant "tips." :)

I was getting more confident as time progressed.

This is the finished product. I'm still obsessed with his hair, my eyes drifting from his when he's talking to me to look for stray long hairs I may have missed. It's getting better with time though.

Um... gross!

No Bride and Groom

Unfortunately, we didn't take any pictures of our friends, John and Kay, on their Valentine's Wedding Day, but we did manage to snap a few pictures at the end of the evening in the parking lot. Nathan has chicken tenders in his mouth in case you were wondering why he had squirrel cheeks. Congratulations John and Kay!

Youth Ski Trip

Here are some pictures of our youth group ski trip to North Carolina a bit ago.

Where Are All the Pictures?

Well... they're on Nathan's computer. Before the youth ski trip, he cleared them all off of our camera to make more room for pictures of the weekend. That's great in theory, but I was looking forward to posting pictures of the mouse in our house, the Super Bowl party, our new deck, etc. Oh well. I guess you'll just have to wait to see them until Nathan and I get it together, and he e-mails them to me. Don't hold your breath. :)

Nathan's Favorite Savory Chicken

On Facebook this weekend I leaked that I am working on a cookbook. It won't be anything fancy, but rather a collection of tasty and easy recipes that have been passed on to me by friends and family (or magazines :)). Hillary suggested that I post a few recipes on the blog, so here's my most popular request, also known as Nathan's Favorite Savory Chicken.

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (frozen or not)
1 package Good Seasons Italian dressing mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 8 oz. package cream cheese (cut up)
1 package fresh mushrooms

Combine all ingredients, except mushrooms, in a crock pot on low for 6-8 hours. Add mushrooms toward the end of the cooking process. Stir and shred chicken with two forks. Serve over rice or noodles.

Enjoy!

We've Been Busy

Sorry for the recent posting drought. Nathan and I have been very busy. Here's a quick update.

1. We found evidence of mice in our house, two of which we promptly caught with traps. Pictures and other grossness to follow.

2. We hosted Tim and Josh of the band M. Fillmore overnight before they did a concert at my school. Tim and I had a random Taylor connection. My heart was so happy to speak with Rico on the phone for about 10 minutes.

3. We hosted our friend/missionary to the Amazon/Nathan's former roommate, Dave, overnight a few days later. It was wonderful to catch up with him and to hear how things are for him in Peru.

4. We got a deck put on our house on the back, right outside of the "door that leads to nowhere." It's beautiful! A friend from church, Mark, and his crew did an amazing job. They're also putting new wooden posts on in the front of the house as I type.

5. We hosted the Super Bowl party for the Christ Church youth on Sunday. Nathan set up the big screen, projector, and innumerable couches in the living room. Carter and Liz got "re-engaged" during half time. This year's bonfire had flames leaping probably 15 feet in the air. I ate too many sweets and stayed up too late watching that special episode of The Office.

6. We hosted/are hosting movie nights Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights of this week. We needed to honor Nathan's efforts in moving all of that stuff into the living room... and we needed to get rid of the sweets I gorged myself on on Sunday. We have a pudding cake and lots of ketchup left over if you want to come over tonight. :)

7. We will be leading a ski trip for the youth to North Carolina this weekend, leaving on Friday and coming home Sunday night.

Whew!

I'll post pictures of as many of these events as I can in the near future. Thanks for continuing to check up on the blog.
