More tips? Well, okay.
1) Do NOT bank at HSBC.
2) Here are a couple wonderful blogs that have been helpful:
A VERY thorough document about moving to the UK. It was compiled for students at St. Andrew's, so it won't all apply, but it's a good place to start and get overwhelmed. :)
For graduate wives - http://thegraduatewife.com/
From the father of all Durham blogs - http://dunelm.wordpress.com/
3) I haven't necessarily blogged about how to move to Durham, but you can read about a few things here:
Moving
Medical Care with Diabetes
Things I Quite Like and Rather Dislike about England
4) Here's some required reading if you're moving to England:
Watching the English
A Severe Mercy
Pillars of the Earth
Notes from a Small Island
5) On culture shock:

The website above will take you to a really useful module - kind of like an online class - for people who are transitioning to different cultures. I condensed it and helped train my Saturday students about it, but I think it's worth a read-through if you are living somewhere outside of your home country or are thinking about it. Best case scenario would be that you read it before you go and a few times while you're there and again before you go home.
I'll admit, the format is quite old school. The pictures are dated too. In fact, it looks like something one of my fellow Intercultural Communications classmates could have made in 2002. Just sayin'...It's got some great content though. Check it out!
