It Is Finished

HE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here it is: the finished PhD thesis, hot of the press on Thursday night. He pulled it out of his bag to show me after work, and I burst into tears. I am so proud.

Me and his 365 pages (one page for every day of the year!). Nathan was not exactly in the mood for a photo shoot but allowed me to take this candid shot.

I begged Nathan to wait until Friday (my day off) to go with him to turn it in. I forced him to stand in front of the print shop to reenact him receiving it from the book binder.

Then we walked to the brand new Palatine Centre. Here he is about to turn it in.

The actual handover moment... I think this receptionist thought we were a bit nutty, but she was good-natured about it. She actually said she gets her picture taken a lot by PhD spouses. I'm not surprised.

We went to Flat White, my favorite little cafe, to celebrate with chicken sandwiches and chai lattes.

That night we invited over some dear friends to celebrate over more food, this time Gilesgate Tandoori, which is our favorite Indian takeaway. Nathan and I ate ourselves sick. Our bellies were quite uncomfortable when we went to bed, but that didn't stop us from eating leftovers the next night.
