So, ironically, I'm using my calm-before-the-storm time to write a short e-book on hospitality. I started it in England and have the rough outline done. I'm kind of in a bit of a rut at the moment, and I would love to hear any tips or tricks you might have on the topic. It can pertain to meals, how to invite people, being a host or being a guest, anything!
I'd love to hear what you have to say... Leave a comment! If I use it in the book I'll give you a prize (to be determined). :)

I've heard it said that you should always sleep in your own guest room and use your guest bathroom. That way you know what problems there are.
Have a guest book, and take Polaroids of your guests...oh wait...you already know that. Hmm...
As a guest: Leave everywhere cleaner than it was when you arrived.
As a host: A "welcome" basket is a nice touch. It doesn't have to be much, but some rolled up towels, extra (hotel) toiletries, a toothbrush, and a bottle of water are really helpful. Each host can add his or her own touch to this. My aunt always leaves a little travel Bible in her welcome basket (to use while I stay). I've been places where hosts have left little candy bars, loofas, or special lotions in a basket.
:)
Oh! My grandparents always ask what kind of fruit I want before I come. Meals may be more difficult to plan to meet your guests tastes, but things like preferred fruit and snack food are helpful to have around.
